Physician Resources

The Kansas City Quality Improvement Consortium (KCQIC) engages in a community-inclusive process to create local clinical guidelines for area physicians. The process begins with literature research for the current best practices for specific conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) or preventive measures. The information is summarized in a one- to two-page format and includes references and either current National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) or National Quality Forum (NQF) approved measures. Guidelines are presented to the KCQIC physician and health plan committee, with the KCQIC Consumer Advisory Board, and also shared with physicians in the community. Following each review, comments and revisions are documented. Final draft guidelines are presented to the KCQIC Board for final approval. Guidelines are posted to the KCQIC Web site (below) and disseminated among area primary care physicians through several additional venues.
